The helicopter arrived and landed in the area around 4:30 p.m., then transported him to Elliott Hospital in Manchester for further evaluation.
State responders used a Black Hawk helicopter from the N.H. Army National Guard on Friday to evacuate a hiker suffering a serious medical problem on Mount Monadnock, according to N.H. Fish and Game.
The emergency began near the upper junction of the white dot and white cross trails at about 1:20 p.m., when crews were dispatched to help Thomas LaValley, 49, of Carlisle, Pa. Officials said they believed his condition was potentially life-threatening.
A nearby park ranger assisted in stabilizing LaValley before conservation officers asked for National Guard support. The helicopter arrived and landed in the area around 4:30 p.m., then transported him to Elliott Hospital in Manchester for further evaluation.
The response also included staff from the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, volunteers with the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team and personnel from New Hampshire Fish and Game.
