The program will operate on a grade-based schedule.
The Brattleboro Recreation and Parks Department will bring back its free supervised Open Gym and Game Room schedule on Monday, Oct. 19, with sessions planned through Saturday, April 24, 2027 at the Gibson-Aiken Center in Brattleboro.
The program will operate on a grade-based schedule. Children in grades K-6 may attend on Mondays from 3 to 5 p.m., Wednesdays from 3 to 4:45 p.m. and Fridays from 3 to 5 p.m. Students in grades 7-12 will have access on Tuesdays from 3 to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. are open to seventh grade through adults.
Held at 207 Main St., the drop-in program is designed as a supervised but informal space where visitors can play basketball, work on homework or use the game room. Activities include bumper pool, foosball, air hockey, table tennis, board games, Legos, chalk wall use, Giant Connect Four and drawing.
Officials say the basketball court is reserved for basketball only, and sneakers are required on the gym floor. Children under seven must be checked in, and if a parent or guardian is not staying, staff must be given an emergency contact number.
The center is closed on Sundays. Additional information is available at www.brattleboro.gov or by calling the Gibson Aiken Office at 802-254-5808.
